Obscure Movie Reference #7 (or maybe not so obscure?): Tilda played the "The Ancient One" in Marvel's Doctor Strange, Scarlett played "The Major" in Ghost in the Shell, also of note was that whole "Last Airbender" fiasco. Here's an article that covers all the bases. I guess there isn't a workable angle to justify casting a white woman as Mulan, but it's still fairly surprising that they didn't.
